our days

this one's for you guys.
boxcar racer- Letters to God

caught off guard
all worked up
the air is as dark and cold as night
let me go
i'm not done
i swear i'll take this one lifetime and i

i won't lie
i won't sin
maybe i don't wanna go
can't you wait
maybe i don't wanna go

i should've asked
i could've helped
at least a f***ing 1,000 times before
will this offer get me in
or does it prove that they gave more and i

i won't lie
i won't sin
maybe i don't wanna go
can't you wait
maybe i don't wanna go
and i
i won't lie
i won't sin
maybe i don't wanna go
can't you wait
maybe i don't wanna goand i
i won't lie
i won't sin
maybe i don't wanna go
can't you wait
maybe i don't wanna go

OBS- a journey, there and back again.

I find that human beings are the funniest creatures alive. When they yearn for something, they start to pray and wish for it to happen so badly that their loves are consumed wholly by it. Two possibilities usually arise from this situation. The first is that through some act of divine intervention or pure dumb luck, they actually get what they want in a relatively short time. The second possibility is that they spend all their time wishing for it to appear, only to realize at the end, that so much time has passed regardless of whether it does appear or not.

I pity the latter folks. They miss everything in between.

The journey. To me, that’s the whole purpose of life. It’s the essence, the core, the heart, the soul of the cosmic forces that tie God, the universe and us together. Needless to say, the goal, or the end product, is also vital; what you achieve in life, how far you go, how significant an impact you’ve made, these are all important too. But for people who prioritise goals overtly as the top agenda, what happens when things don’t go according to plan? What happens if there’s a failure? Will the journey still count? Will all the hope, faith and positivism fade into oblivion? I guess most people would say ‘yes’ and ‘no’ to the last two questions respectively, not by choice or genuine belief, but by some consciously formed political and moral diplomatic obligation they have to provide to maintain a state of mental saneness and moral righteousness.

During the 13 days spent at OBS, I’ve learnt to veer away from the goal, and focus on the journey instead. To put things into perspective, the journey of the course took me to a myriad of places, colourful situations, beautiful and spectacular sceneries, a contortion of emotions high and low and it also gave me a special bond among friends and a deeper understanding of the tripartite relationship shared among God, the universe and myself. That was the journey.

The goal, well, was simply that I completed the course.

I completed the course.

Seems rather dull, I would say.

Finally, I can grasp deeper into the moral of the movie, ‘Big Fish’, where colour and the spectacular are the essences of life, and not simply the bare facts and unanimated truths. I could give a bare account of what the daily routine was like those past 13 days, with its monotonous dying tones and flat-ground climaxes. I could, but where would the fun be? Where would the imagination play?

I’d say give the journey emphasis, splashes of yellow, blue, black and white and a hint of purple and orange! Give the walk and the swim a vibrancy like that of meandering waves in the wide open ocean, where a whole other world of sophistication and kaleidoscopic visions hide beneath the seemingly one-toned waters of the South China Sea! Give the sun a raging passion, or the moon her serene healing powers, or even the stars as they stand as the sentinels and guardians of the night.

Let the horns and trumpets sound their greatest, a burst of a triumphant return and a glorious victory of life and all that surrounds it! Invite the majestic angelic chorus to pour forth their glory and splendour, overflowing mercies and grace that descend from God above! Lastly, allow the trees to sway gently in affirmation, her lush leaves rustling softly as a harp to her strings. Let the ground sound with the rumblings from our footsteps,

For our journeys have already begun.

2nd link bridge run

i took part in the 2nd link bridge run today! well basically it's a 10km route from singapore to malaysia (you don't actually get to go into malaysia to buy vcds and gum etc etc) via the 2nd link causeway at tuas. well, this is by far the longest route in have ever run! ok i foresee some bombastic comments from this.

1) all the SAF guys will be going like.....wth!!!! i run like 3948302943km every day lah! what is 10km man! it's like my warm up lah! chicken feet, come let's go!
2) shane, you're pathetic.
3) good on ya, mate! (like 1% of chart)
4) you seriously got up at like 6am on a sunday just to run?!?? (Alvyn)

yea so anyway it has been a good week. went for first aid course so now i'm a certified first aider!! i have a card to prove it haha! ok at least the course was not all that bad since i got a card!
"hello, hello, i'm a first aider, can i please help"----totally radical.

mark celebrated his birthday on saturday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN HOME BOY! (sounds wrong) his family, (mom, dad and used to work in IMH brother, leon) him and me went for a buffet at the grand coptorne, the hotel next to zouk. yea the food was absolutly awesome!!

disclaimer : i'll be going on an obs course from the 15th of nov (this wednesday) to the 26th of nov (next next sunday) and I WILL BE UNCONTACTABLE!! MEANING I WILL HAVE NO HANDPHONE OR ANY TELEKENECTIC POWERS. ok bye.

power

Do I dare
Disturb the universe?
In a minute there is time
For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse.

crossing the sterotype, now that's power.

Pimp my face

this is the funniest thing i've heard all day. (please don't read this in a singaporean accent...it was on mtv, a show called 'yo momma'.

"why you so ugly that i overheard the producers talking about making a new show for you called MTV's Pimp My Face"

zouk part 2

Went clubbing at zouk again last night with Mel, Peishi, Ningzhi and Wenlin. it was really a blast! phuture was awesome man! i think it's like my new favourite haunt. (you hear that alvyn! we're going to phuture next!!!) by the way i got in free yesterday, don't ask me how.

further thoughts and generalistions:
1) in a group, the person i'm most quiet to is the one i really wanna get to know.
2) i suck at dancing house.
3) i look bored when i don't smile (no offence taken though haha (: )
4) you can't dance mambo to house music (473298843 people are like going 'DUH!!' at this moment of idiocy)
5) i am VERY PROTECTIVE of my friends.

mich and kelv

michelle wong's blog is seriously one of the funniest blog i've ever read....on par with kelvin's.

The white lady of rohan

Mambo night still reigns the champion of all clubbing experiences.
I remember the last time I went mambo and had a really good time was almost a year ago when I went with yc. The music was phenomenal, the atmosphere was electrifying and the crowd was simply spectacular. I remember telling people that that was my best clubbing experience. I agree...Till now.

last night was brilliantly awesome! I went with suf, fan, darrus and Ben. suf, being his ever cool and punkish self, fan with his cool grooves and smooth moves, darrus with his spontaneity and being basically the life of the group, and ben with his uber slick dance moves and charming self.

myself? Well, I did something I never thought I would do in a million years (with a little pressure from Darrus). I know most of you now will be thinking of many wrong things about what I'm referring to, so don't try cuz I'm not that kinda guy. It felt great; running never felt greater; seeing a taxi stop at a red light never felt more exhilarating; seeing black and white was the order of the day. Crazy shane, you did good....You did good.

so after yesterday, I came up with a list.
when clubbing, I need

1) kick ass music.
2) close friends.
3) a great place to party (aka. Not too crowded).
4) crazy stunts.
5) a complimentary drink here and there (haha I'm rather poor).
6) a moment.

so here's to last night, to great friends, to mambo night (2/11) and to the moment.
