TLL

i'm so thankful and glad that Lin's back!
met her today in church...was really really good seeing her again. i think it's been like a year plus since the last time i saw her. it was the farewell day at her place and i even had to leave earlier that day. was extremely sad.
anyway Lin's leaving on the 14th...this is a reminder to myself.
so thankful to God for her...she's been a real direction in my spiritual life..always there for me..kinda lke my safety net. wouldn't be where i am without her.
another reason to visit Melbourne at the end of the year next year!

school of love actually

the following story is to illustrate my phobia of girls. viewer discretion is advised.

so today i went out with the gang- alvyn, wei kee and raymond. i really wanted to find both the love actually and school of rock soundtracks. so i went to hmv first...then couldn't find. then we went to sembawang music at Cine, but couldn't find them there also. so i sort of resigned myself to the fact that both albums were sold out everywhere and i would just have to downloa....erm never mind.
anyway so as i was on my way to the bus stop to go home, i passed by THAT CD SHOP at pacific plaza. so i decided to give it a try. i went to the second floor and started looking for the albums myself.
so ok the first problem came when i couldn't find the section where they kept all the soundtracks. so i wanted to find someone to point me in the direction. then i saw the back of a salesgirl and started walking to her. then she turned around. and i was like , "ok this girl's really beautiful... i can't talk to her."
so i spent 15 minutes manually looking for the section.
so i found it but couldn't find both CDs and hence (this sounds like a history essay already), i wanted to ask someone else if they had stock.
so i looked around and saw the back of someone else. i started walking there, and then she turned around and again, i was like "she's pretty...i can't talk to her."
so i spent another 15 minites trying to find the CDs which in the end, could not be found.
then i left.
so the moral of the story is, i have a phobia of girls.
yay me.

christmas 2006

Things that made my Christmas that extra special.

1) Spending time with God on the day Jesus was born. (Happy 2006th birthday Lord Jesus! i really wish i could say this face to face with You)

2) Having a wonderful western dinner (equinox style) with my family on Christmas eve night at this restaurant called Halia at Botanic Gardens where my dad kept calling our waiter "Ah Singh" and even tried to match-make another filipino waiter with my maid. hilarious stuff!

3) Spending time with my church friends esp Selene, Mae Shaan, Ivan, Amanda and the whole gang at lunch today. it was really, really great.

4) Seeing my parents' faces while opening the presents i got for them.

5) Spending all those nights leading up to Christmas with the class guys in town.

6) The party on christmas eve eve.

7) Last but not least, all the presents!!!

feel like no other

A little boy came up to me today. He looked at me ernestly with a look on his face which showed evidently that he wanted very much so to ask me a question. So i invited him. I asked, " you look like you've got something to ask."
he nodded his head.
i raised my eyebrows.
he spoke, " do you think we can have superpowers?"
"why not?" i answered.
he became wary, "i'm not talking about immense courage...or superb intelligence..or other normal abilities we as humans can do but are just too ignorant, lazy and faithless to do, you know, "
i stood stunned.
"i'm talking about real superhuman powers."
i bent down, with a face of reconciliation meeting his. my eyes meeting his.

"she has," was all i said as i tilted my head towards her. he followed my gaze.

"she made me human again."

Humble smiles flashed across both their faces.

how long, how long

i remember during last day of the sea expedition at OBS, after the convoy of kayaks had cross the final channel crossing (from mainland singapore to pulau ubin), things started to get pretty rough. there weren't any goliath waves or massive currents to go against us, but rather, it was the sheer exhaustion of our bodies and minds that pulled us back. i remember we had to have a break after every five minutes cuz we really had little or no drive left in our badly battered bodies. so what we expected to be the easiest part of our journey (the home stretch) turned out to be much more than the deceptive calm surface.
it's kinda like now. 1 more month to the commissioning parade. everything's starting to pile up. things are starting to get tight. never-ending. suddenly, the end doesn't seem so close anymore.
damn.
